May not be able to hear the person on the other end.

I think it has to do with the cell phone using higher freqncies and could
set off equipment. Not completely sure anymore.

The pager is a elegant solution for allowing you to unplug as much as possible in 2024.
    dont encourage him!

I call it like I see it. Do I think Sean can switch to a pager? Yes I
do. He's pretty stuborn. If I could deal with voicemail I could dwitch
if it was a 2 way pager, but it just seems like more work then carrying a
    cell phone.

Oh, yeah, I didn't think of that -- the reason that they ask drivers to
turn off their phones in blasting zones (or at least used to).

    yeah, dont do that.

Why not? I've done that under OS/2 without issue. I can, now that I'm
under linux, have the system text me if needed.

Should be able to do this wiht your cellphone, I beleive all the pager networks left all use text?

No, numeric pagers are around but if I was to get an alphanumeric pager, I would get a special email address that you can send short text messages to
    the pager.

However, now that I am under Linux, I can have the BBS text me.

    Definitely.
