  • Cabin Fever

    With the frigid temperatures outside, I decided to do something I had not
    done in a while. I fired up my old Thinkpad, which is loaded with Win98,
    and spent 3.5 or so hours playing Simcity 2000 and 3000.

    I didn't mean to spend that much time but, just like those games always do, once I get into them I lose track of time. When I loaded SC2000 up, the
    crawl line displayed a smart message about how the sims were waking from a trance. ;)

    While playing, I had this going on the TV for the perfect retro experience:

    I heard that. I was a big FPS player back in the '90s; Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Descent...I played 'em all. It wasn't unusual for me to stay to three and four AM gaming. When I'd wake up around 11, my Ma would say, "Spent all night on your computer didn't you?" She knew me so well.

    A friend and I played Doom 1 and 2, Quake, Duke Nukem, Heretic and tried
    a few others. We played every afternoon usually for a couple of hours
    for about 25 years.. All on direct dial phone lines.. B)
