My wife is having surgery on the 27th. She has a benign hemangioma on
her liver. It's not life threatening, but could lead to potential risks
down the road if left alone, so it has to come out.

Hope it goes well.

We'll have our Christmas with our kids and in-laws, and then make our
way to the hospital a couple days later. Recovery will take up to a
week, which means we'll likely celebrate New Years there.

Sounds like a good christmas to me. We might be having it with just
ourselves, usually sister inlaw organizes something but havent heard, and
this morning my son woke up with a fever, hopefully he'll be over it
before christmas, but likely my wife and i will get whatever it is next -
which would mean no going out anyway.
