Unless I'm mistaken, I feel like the fact that everyone is caling them "drones" implies that we know they're man-made autonamous or controlled vehicles of some sort. I haven't been following the story very closely though.

I don't know much about these drone sightings, but I did wonder if they
could be delivery drones, like delivering packages from one place to
    another.

I think tenser's conclusion is the best though - it has to be aliens,
many many tiny aliens. To everyone else they look like drones but they
are really alien motherships preparing for an invasion.

Don't think so - they're saying their sized like cars and SUVs. It has
to be the government, but what the hell are they looking for???

Maybe, but some packages are quiet large? Stocking supermarkets from
their distribution centers without having to hire truck drivers..

Who knows, if it is the government, I imagine it's just some kind of
practice senario. We have those often (albiet without drones, but
    helicopters and jets and such).

Murmurs have been said that some nuclear device was lost, or even radioactive material... if its not US, the admin is lost and we're in
    more trouble than we think.

I seriously doubt it. It would make a great movie... but I suspect that
rumor is started by an overactive imagination. I mean wouldn't it be
easier to find stuff with satellites than drones?
