Too much trouble. Remove SSH ... pointless anyways for a BBS.

    not this again....

Telnet should never be used for the to-go bbs IMO. As a principle.
However BBSing is something that has security issues. Like the user credentials - they're always transferred as plain text to the bbs at
some point (however depending on the BBS it may not be stored as plain text).

How are passwords transfered plain text when using SSH? Sure using telnet
they are transfered in plain text, but every thing is..

As for password storage, I have always only stored password hashes.

How are you getting the SSH username/password?

Via the ssh mechanism to send username / passwords.

Also, you can use the username and password of "new" via ssh to create an account on my bbs :)
