Upcoming Contests - Things to Do

2025 CQ World Wide VHF Contest - CW/SSB/FM
The analog (CW/SSB/FM) weekend of the 2025 CQ World Wide VHF Contest begins at 1200 UTC on Saturday, July 5 and concludes at 1200 UTC on Sunday, July 6. All amateur radio frequencies on 50 MHz (6 meters) and 144 MHz (2 meters) may be used as authorized by local law and license class.
There are single operator, multioperator, QRP hilltopper and rover categories available to participants.
All participants are now able to use spotting assistance as the rules now align with what is allowed in ARRL VHF contests.
Note that the start and end times of the contest have changed from previous years.

Other new rule changes include the addition of new low power categories (100 watts maximum) for Single Operator All Band and Single Operator Single Band participants. Additionally, single band categories have been added for QRP participants. For complete rules, visit www.cqww-vhf.com [ https://www.cqww-vhf.com/ ] .

    IARU HF World Championship
The IARU HF World Championship occurs next weekend, beginning at 1200 UTC on Saturday, July 12 and concluding at 1159 UTC on Sunday, July 13. Participants can enter in CW, SSB, or mixed-mode categories. The exchange is a signal report and your ITU zone. ITU zones for stations in the Lower 48 are 6, 7, or 8. ITU zones for Canadian stations are 2, 3, 4, or 9. US and Canadian participants should visit the rules page for more information on how to determine their ITU zone.

In addition, stations operated by members of the IARU Administrative Council, the three IARU regional executive committees, and IARU member-society HQ stations from around the globe will be on the air. HQ stations will send their member-society abbreviations. ARRL HQ station W1AW/KP4 will be on the air from Puerto Rico, and IARU HQ station NU1AW will be on the air from ARRL HQ in Newington, Connecticut.

    See iaru.org/reference/member-societies [ http://www.iaru.org/reference/member-societies ] for a list of IARU member-societies.

Participants are reminded that self-spotting is strictly prohibited in all categories. For rules and more information, visit www.arrl.org/iaru-hf-world-championship [ https://www.arrl.org/iaru-hf-world-championship?utm_source=Informz&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=ARRL ] .

North American QSO Parties Begin on July 19
July 19 marks the first of three mode-based North American QSO Parties (NAQPs) this summer. The NAQP RTTY contest starts at 1800 UTC on Saturday, July 19, and concludes 12 hours later at 0559 UTC, Sunday, July 20. The NAQP CW contest will be held on August 2, followed by the NAQP SSB contest on August 16.

The NAQP contests are fun, friendly, and fast. The exchange is your name and state (or province or DXCC entity). NAQP events begin on Saturday afternoons at 1800 UTC, and last for 12 hours. Single-operator stations may operate up to 10 of the 12 hours.

See the rules web page at ncjweb.com/naqp [ https://ncjweb.com/naqp ] for more information.
