Upcoming Contests - Things to Do

Round Two of the YOTA Contest
The second round of the Youngsters On The Air (YOTA) Contest will be held on Saturday, July 19, starting at 1000 UTC. The objective of the event is to increase the amount of ham radio youth activities. The contest is organized by IARU Region 1 Youth Working Group, in cooperation with the Hungarian Radio Amateur Society. 2025 CQ World Wide VHF Contest - Digital
The digital weekend of the 2025 CQ World Wide VHF Contest begins at 1200 UTC on Saturday, July 19 and concludes at 1200 UTC on Sunday, July 20. All amateur radio frequencies on 50 MHz (6 meters) and 144 MHz (2 meters) may be used as authorized by local law and license class.
Available categories include single operator, multioperator, QRP hilltopper and rover.
All participants are now able to use spotting assistance as the rules now align with what is allowed in ARRL VHF contests.
Note that the start and end times of the contest have changed from previous years.

Other new rule changes include the addition of new low power categories (100 W maximum) for Single Operator All Band and Single Operator Single Band participants. North American QSO Party- RTTY
The North American QSO Party (NAQP)- RTTY begins at 1800 UTC on Saturday, July 19 and concludes at 0559 UTC on Sunday, July 20. NAQP contests are fun, friendly, and fast-paced. The exchange is your name, state, Canadian province or DXCC entity. Participants are reminded that the NAQP CW and SSB events are on August 2 and August 16 respectively. 2025 ARRL Field Day Entry Deadline Approaching
The entry deadline for the 2025 ARRL Field Day is Tuesday, July 29, at 2059 UTC. Participants should check the Entries Received web page at field-day.arrl.org/fdentriesrcvd.php [ http://field-day.arrl.org/fdentriesrcvd.php ] to verify their entry has been accepted and that there's no additional documentation required to complete the entry.
If the status is listed as "pending documents," then additional information is needed to complete the entry.
Corrections or additions to Field Day entries can be made by using the link provided in the confirmation email received when the entry was submitted.

Real-Time Moon Tracker v2.0.1 Released
Hannu Eloranta, OH2LHE, has announced the release of Real-Time Moon Tracker v2.0.1. The web-based moon tracking tool at eloranta.github.io [ https://eloranta.github.io/ ] can display the moonrise and moonset of two locations simultaneously, useful for EME operators to determine common moon times. Updates include the option to display the time in local time in addition to UTC, and a time cursor, which displays the current time.

Front Range 6 Meter Group Q65 Zoom Presentation
The Front Range 6 Meter Group recently hosted an informative Zoom presentation by Hasan Schiers, N0AN, and Rick Hall, K5GZR, that explored the Q65 mode within WSJT-X. The conversation also included topics such as Earth-Moon-Earth (EME) operations, the latest software enhancements, antenna optimization, signal decoding strategies, and station safety.
