Here's a highly organized list of facts about New York State public schools:

* Teachers and principals are required to have or get a masters degree.
* Board members, including Superintendent, are at the top of the totem poll.
* Board members are NOT required to have any education whatsoever.
* Board members must complete 6 hours of mandated training their first year.
* Starting salary for board members is nearly double what teachers start at.

Connect the dots. Do you see the problem with this?

Teachers spend 6 years in college only to be subjugated by idiots who have only 6 hours of mandated training. Now I'm pleading with these arrogant goons to get better security in the high school, and they're ignoring me.

I went to a board meeting last night and a city councilwoman excoriated them in their faces, then I did, then my wife did, then an education major from the local university did the same, all for different but valid reasons. It's so f'n ridiculous I can't even laugh about it anymore.

Those elections aren't held on election day, and the only way to find out about them is by word of mouth. If I can find the bottom of my list of complaints I'll add that to it.
