Airbus has announced the opening of a second assembly line in China. This will increase the production capacity of the European aircraft manufacturer for its A320 aircraft.
Airbus's tenth final assembly line worldwide will be located at the existing Airbus facility in the port city of Tianjin and is expected to be fully operational in early 2026. Around the same time, Airbus will also open a second final assembly line in Mobile, Alabama.
In June, Bloomberg reported, citing insiders, that Chinese airlines are considering placing orders for hundreds of Airbus aircraft. The order has not yet been confirmed. However, if the order goes through, China will clearly be choosing European-made aircraft.
Deliveries from American competitor Boeing to Chinese airlines are politically sensitive due to the trade war between the US and China. Boeing only produces aircraft in the US.
