Boeing has been allowed to increase production of its 737 MAX aircraft. This was previously limited following an incident involving a detached door panel. The aircraft manufacturer has now received permission from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to produce 42 aircraft per month, up from 38.

The FAA imposed the production restrictions following an incident last year in which an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft malfunctioned in flight and lost a door panel. The incident revealed safety and quality deficiencies at Boeing.

Increasing deliveries of the popular aircraft is important for restoring Boeing's financial stability after years of production disruptions and crises. The company has been operating at a loss for years. The FAA stated that safety inspectors have conducted extensive checks on Boeing's production lines to ensure the production increase is being carried out safely.
