Introduction

SiteBuilder X is a HTML authoring tool designed for Rapid Site Development. SX was designed to give web authors an environment where they can quickly edit and create web pages, while maintaining a site oriented approach to HTML. Featuring a built in Windows Explorer™ window, SX makes inserting links, images, scripts as easy as Drag and Drop.

Although some HTML authoring tools are included, the programs main focus is site development. This program does not assume your an idiot. You would be best to have some knowledge of the HTM-Language. If you are just starting out with HTML then I suggest downloading Microsofts HTML Authors Reference(links), a great help file no HTMLer should be without. Once you learn basic syntax Tag Popups will show tag reference as you type. So you'll never have to leave the HTML editor to go looking for the help file.

Requirements
Minimum:
  • 486 25mhz
  • 4megs RAM
  • 16 color display
  • Mouse Pointing device, with right button
  • Windows95
  • Visual Basic Support Files

  • Recommended:
  • Pentium 100+mhz
  • 16 megs RAM
  • 16 million color display
  • This program has not yet been tested on Windows NT. I am almost possitive it will not run on NT 3.5, and know for sure it will not run on Windows 3.1, even with win32's. If you have any information about NT 4.0 please contact me.

    Samples

If you installed the sample application during setup you'll notice that 5 JavaScripts, some basic HTML, and a Style Sheet was added to your system. You can use any of the source within these documents as long as you do it with SiteBuilder X. Below is a list of sample HTML pages installed.

    Creative Marquee's
A small example of how you can breath life into microsoft's marquee, instead of just scrolling from one end to the other.
    Site Navigator
Ever wanted a combo-box site navigator, without CGI. This sample shows how you can easily create one with JavaScript.
    Cookies
Add customization to your Web Site with cookies. It's simple to make a personal hit counter or store information using JavaScript.
    Style Sheets
Shows how you can take control of your Web Page with Style Sheets. (This page uses style sheets also)

    Links

Below you'll find a few vital links. I urge you not to delete this file, for the simple reason that if something goes wrong you can probably solve the problem by clicking one of the following links.

    Visual Basic Support Files
If you don't already have the support files then you can't run SiteBuilder X. These files do not come with the program because most people already have them. The file is rather large(800k) so it saves those who already have the files alot of time.
NOTE: If your having trouble downloading from the site above there is a list of anonymous ftp sites in the beta.txt file.
    SiteBuilder X
You can always download the latest version of this program from the link above. I suggest checking every 2 to 3 weeks, if you're interested in the program.
    E-Mail Me
If you find a bug, have a suggestion, feel like giving me money, etc.. You can send mail to ryan@lek.net, I'm usually fairly good with support questions. If your having a problem I'll try my hardest to help you out.
Download or View the Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 Author's Guide and HTML Reference
This help file, compiled by microsoft, is a blessing. It doesn't go into the ethics or How-To's of creating Web Pages, it simply gives a list of every TAG supported by Internet Explorer and each of it's paramaters. A must have for any serious HTMLer.
    Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01
I personally prefer IE to Netscape. I know I will lose customers just for saying that but, it's true. If you haven't checked out IE yet then at least give it a try. I was once a dedicated Netscape user, and it took me a while to adjust, but IE is quite a bit more powerful then Netscape(I never said faster).

    Registration

Last but not least, I would like to ask you to register this program. I have not asked for registration in previous versions but I think the program has matured emensily.
The registration fee for a single user license is $10.00(ten US dollars). If you are licensing this program for use in business then you are asked to pay $20.00 (twenty US dollars). You can purchase this program by sending check, money order, or cash. I have no method of registering via credit card yet, but this may be soon to come.
When you register you benefit in the following ways.

  • Free upgrades to every new version.
  • Beta's do not expire.
  • This program(with support files) on 3˝ floppy, and printed manual.
  • 10 more JavaScripts and 5 VB Scripts.
  • How to register

Open the register.doc included with this program in WordPad. Print it and fill in the required information. If you want the disks and manual then you must include your address. The only part of the form you have to fill out is your name/company. You will be prompted to enter that name/company and the license key when you register the program. It would also be wise to enter your email address so I can send your registration key as soon as possible. Enclose the printed form and your payment in an envelope and send it to the following address.
