I wonder if that is all kids, or just male kids? As you mention online,
as best as I can tell from nieces and nephews, it is more the nieces that
are interested in that world as tweens/teens. The nephews, and their
friends, not as much.

I know my 11 year old nephew seems a lot more interested in playing
online games on his Tablet than thinking about girls.

I guess I didn't have a Tablet to distract me at that age but I was
certainly starting to think about girls.

They have always said that girls mature faster than boys, one of the
reasons they are usually looking for older boys while in their
early teens. Maybe I wasn't quite typical as I recall being quite
a bit more popular with the girls when I was 12 to 14 than most of
the rest of the guys. I sort of thought that was mainly because
at 12 years old I was already 5'10" so I was taller than most of
the other guys, many still shorter than most of the girls.

Of course, by 14 I had long hair (unusual at the time) and was
wearing Harley T-Shirts and saving up to buy my first motorcycle
so I may have seemed a little more 'macho' than typical as well..

The girls do like a 'bad boy'... B)

My recollection of that age, 12-14, was that I was more interested in
girls than a lot of my male classmates. I was also about as tall as I am
now and taller than most kids in class. Unfortunately, that did not
improve my popularity one bit!

Looking back I wish I had been more like my nephew and not got interested
in them until I was much older. I wasted a lot of time that could have
been spent on other, much more worthwhile things.

As I got older, one can add "...and money" to the list of things wasted.

It helps to be good looking too.. Believe me, I know.. B)

Actually, since I was a serious hockey player at the time, I
attracted a few girls when the school took us ice skating the
odd time in winter because I was able to skate backwards and
'spin' (dance) on ice to the music with them.. B)

I lived out in the country so, until old enough to drive, it was
pretty difficult to spend much time with others outside of school.
Just the odd party on a weekend or something..

I remember my closest friend was about 1.5 miles away and I'd
bike there frequently. Another friend lived almost 5 miles
away and I recall at times riding to his place in the morning,
then back home for lunch, and then back to his place later.

Plus my parents were pretty cheap on allowances so I didn't have
much to spend until I was able to drive to a job at 16.
And then the job took up most of the dating time.. Can't win..

As I got older, one can add "...and money" to the list of things wasted.

If YT and other services are to be believed, there are several women
out there who are into canning veggies and other homesteading activities. I suspect that all of them are also married already, though. ;)

There's many women out there but depends on where you live as to the quantity

I'd not expect to find any into homesteading in Chicago or NYC, that is
for sure. ;)
