    Hello everybody!

For about the 5th time, I am installing Jellyfin. I object to paying Plex for Plexpass, as all the files come from my own servers. I get so far and then just give up, delete and go off on another project before realising I want access to just my music, 200k tracks, so install it again.

I access it from tailscale and adding a portion of my music library seems to work ok, but when I add the main library, it barfs and gets stuck. It has been at 72% for the last 30 minutes and I have a feeling if I refresh, it will show it as dead.

It is on an Mac Mini with a Intel i5 and plenty of disk space. currently uptime is showing that it is running at 1.26. I have just tried to log in on Safari, main browser is Vivaldi. Just got the circle trying to log in.

Do I have to bite the bullet and gove Plex money. I can RDP to the Mac which is running Monteroy I think. Connection to the server just times out on Safari, saying it could not connect to the server.

    God I hate technology rotfl

We are about 4 hours in into adding the main library and it is sitting at 72%. Will leave it overnight

NOt as yet, but I plan to get a couple of Pi 5 with SSD to run a few different media players. I switched Jellyfin to a spare Pi 5 and it seems to be better

Just a Captain Obvious observation, but media servers like Emby and Jellyfin were never designed to run on Pi's. Pi's are all severely underpowered and also were never designed for streaming content.

Better to get at least a high-powered miniPC such as Beelink to run things on.

For music it seems to be fine on a Pi but it is more for testing than anything. I have Plex on a 2012 Mac Mini which is showing it's age. I don't want to invest in hardware if I don't like the software.

Pi's give a general overview and Jellyfin is working far better on the Pi 5 than it did on the Mac Mini :)

I gave up and paid for Plex Pass lifetime. I will save to put a nice server to replace the old Mac Mini. Maybe a M2 Mac Mini
