• My Daughter is a Homesteader

My daughter's married name is House. Her husband has always been someone who wants to live 'off the grid' so to speak. He constructed his own home including the
electrical, carpentry, roughing and finishing work. He did everything but dig the septic
area and pour the concrete foundation.

He has always had solar collectors to get free energy, and he has 2 huge water tanks
outside that collect rainwater which they use for toilet flushing, clothes washing, and
    hand washing.

What really surprised my wife and I was when they purchased a Highland bull and 2
heifers. Then they decided to branch out and got chickens, roosters, and goats.

Because of their last name, they refer to themselves as Housesteaders, not homesteaders.

My wife and I always say that if someone was to tell us 5 years ago that our daughter
would be raising farm animals, we would have laughed. But they love the free water
from the rain, and the eggs and milk they get for free as well.

    Very proud of them both!
