Just went to the Del Taco here in Huntsville AL for the first time. I
was NOT impressed. To start off the girl at the register had less personality than Ben Stine, and did not look like she wanted to be
there. I ordered a "Beef & Cheddar burrito", the personality challenged girl asked me if I wanted "Red or Green" and I had no idea what she was talking about, and SHE couldn't even explain it to me. Got the burrito, started eating it and was wondering where the cheddar was, it was basically nothing but beef, NOTHING like what the menu board was
showing. I also got their "Chili Cheddar Fries", and the chili tasted
more like enchilada sauce than chili. Over all I have to say that Taco Bell is far superior to Del Taco and I will not be going back again.

I never really got the appeal of Del Taco. Tried it off and on for 20 years while I lived in CA. It was always just "OK" to me. I grew up on Taco Bell though and even worked there for a couple years in high school. I definitely prefer the bell over the del.
And now, the next morning, Del Taco is doing the one thing that Taco Bell has NEVER done: Sending me scurrying to the bathroom every few minutes.
Interesting.. I generally like Del Taco, and I feel like their food is higher quality than Taco Bell (I feel like Taco Bell is basically the McDonald's of fast Mexican food, though I do like Taco Bell). Maybe you just had a bad experience that time. I feel like it's really fair to
post a review of a restaurant after visiting only one time; I think it's good to visit multiple times so you get a sense of their consistency.
If you're in the pacific northwest US, I'd also suggest trying Taco Time to see what you think of them.

We need a bare bones, cheap, decent, old school taco joint. No more crunchwraps, chicken stackers or cantina menus - just tacos, burritos and nachos - and make it cheap.

But the real stuff: Do you guys not have taco stands, Betos (or the million derivatives - Albertos, Ranchorito, etc.)?

That's one thing I like about In-N-Out - They don't offer a huge menu,
but their prices are a bit lower than many other fast food places, and
I think their food is pretty good.
