12 is Bookworm? 13 is Trixie?

    Yes, that is correct. ;)

I upgraded my Proxmox boxes to 9.0, they're running trixie in the
background. I don't see any difference.

I've been trying to find a distro for use as a desktop, trying to find
the right eye candy. Mint is nice, Bodhi is interesting, but I might go
back to Debian and focus on an old-school window environment.

On my BBS machine, I didn't see much difference. On my other machine, I
did notice some odd quirks that have more to do with the software that was upgraded... the GIMP, Audacity, Shotcut... but the OS seems mostly the
same. I didn't do any fresh installs this time, but I think it comes with Gnome by default, which is more eye candy than I would like. I am using
IceWM on the BBS machine, and have the other one set up where I can use Gnome-flashback or LXQt.

Very nice! Thanks for the intro, and nice to meet another one into Computer Science! (Although I graduated quite some time ago now... time flies!)

    yo based!
I'm also into electronics, and used to fiddle a lot with that in the mid/late 90s. Nowadays I'm mostly replacing capacitors on motherboards
for some future retro PCs (although it won't be extremely retro, one P4 and one Athlon XP). =)

even better i wanna get into this more i have a degree that went into this! <3

    i wanna play games again!
same. sucks when the mind doesn't do what you want it to (or too much
    of!)
this is the important thing :) Hope that doesn't change for the worse

i already got horrible mental illnesses
    schizoaffective disorder bipolar type
    cPTSD
dam, i've been debating going back to uni for a second. i got bach in
comp sci, and masters in software engineering. basically none of my jobs have applied most of the stuff I learnt, only the skill of how to learn well. I liked the technical level of uni stuff compared to modern day industry work (or maybe im in the wrong country for the good work haha)

    xD it is ok!

Ooops, I see I typed "12" but meant "13". :) Someone else pointed that
out but it didn't sink in until just now.

I have found that it mostly just worked. The only issues I have had are
with some of the software, like the GIMP, where the package installs brand
new config files in the userspace. So now I get to go back and try to fix
all my presets back to what they should be... probably just in time for the next release. ;)
