That sounds true, and that's what Trump says, and Trump is no liar, but I'm still skeptical about the way the smoke smells and about the "explanation" for the way it smells.

But we can apply some critical thinking skills here and get a good idea.

1. We know that trees and other brush is burning - So wood smoke.
2. Probably other plants are also burning (i.e. wacky weed).
3. If houses are caught in the wildfire, we can add plastics and other things you shouldn't breathe the smoke of when they burn.
4. There was probably treated lumber in the mix - so arsenic.
5. Moving over the lakes, whatever was in the smoke also got hydrated - which may change some of the chemicals in the smoke.

So why we don't know what exactly was in the smoke and how much, we can certainly make the judgement that the smoke is unhealthy and will cause problems if you breathe too much of it.

I like what Trump said about making Canada pay for the damage it's
doing to the USA through tariffs, and I expect that to be implemented soon. They can't get away with this.

Agreed. The only way to hurt a Leftie is to hold them accountable.

I know you don't smoke weed, but hear me out:

When people smoke bongs, the water filters the smoke somewhat, and the proof is in the dirty water when they're done. If bongs were capable of turning smoke into formaldehyde, wouldn't we have heard about it by now?

We need real scientists (not Obama-appointed ones) to take samples and tell us the truth.

I will argue that the source of the chemicals is not relevant right now. We know what's in the smoke is "bad". Bad enough that we need to hold Canada accountable for their actions (or inactions).

If this weren't an international incident, we'd have a court case, do discovery and then the sources would become relevant, but I don't think we'll ever get to that.

Yes. Some chemicals get more toxic when hydrated.

My understanding it that a bong does not filter. It concentrates the smoke by cooling it before you inhale. The dirty water is simply what happens because the smoke and water touch.

That said, without really digging into what's happening here, there's a possibility that the water would cause
things like tar to be "filtered" out simply because it cools enough to fall out of the smoke and into the water.

We need real scientists (not Obama-appointed ones) to take samples and tell us the truth.

We've been asking for that for literally decades and nothing happens.

What's the REAL source of disease? We know it's not viruses because that's been completely debunked. So what is causing it? No one knows because the medical industry already "knows" the answer.

Yes. Some chemicals get more toxic when hydrated.

I get that. Wet dogs smell different from dry dogs (for example) and it is possible that there are other things in the mix besides trees, but I just wish we could have some proof. I'd be more comfortable with the smell of burnt plastic if I were sure that it's burnt plastic and not burnt asbestos.

The way I look at it is this: The smoke is unhealthy, even if we don't know exactly what's in it. So that's how I handle the smoke.

I try to avoid the "McDonalds Coffee" thinking.
Them: They served it at 200F instead of 180F causing more serious burns.
Me: 180F, 200F, both are painfully hot and I will take precautions to not spill it on myself.

Prime Minister Carney said "the tariffs are in violation of north American trade agreements." (So many words, but still no apology!)
