Well, I'll turn IVM off, like it has been for many years.

Confirmed, it has been removed from your nodelist entries. ;-)

Yep, VMODEM was pretty nice once, but that was 30 years ago, before BinkP. ;-)

But I still wonder why it works locally in my home network, but does not over the internet. Can anyone confirm a working VMODEM link over the internet? There are not so many IVM flags in the nodelist and some of those are not VMODEM but TELNET servers.

i don't know how it works. i'm not sure that i ever used it. does it need a different port as the telnet? i'm running vmodem.exe under os2, but i don't know if i need anything else in the configuration.

VMODEM.EXE of SIO serves both vmodem and telnet connections. By default telnet in port 23 and vmodem in port 3141. That can be changed in %etc\services.

Correct. The port 3141 (tcp/udp) is now closed from the internet. It was open during the tests.

I still wonder why the ivm/3141 connection works inside my lan from one os/2 computer to another. Even with SIO2K, which I installed to another one. Maybe some other ports needed than 3141...

When I try dialing your system via VMODEM, I get an almost immediate "NO CARRIER" response. When I try Daniel, VMODEM indicates it is negotiating with the remote, then eventually logs a time out and "NO CARRIER" ...

Telnet to your alternate port (360) is answered by FrontDoor/2 and pressing ESC twice allows me to log in to the BBS.

So it's not only my vmodem that is not working over the internet. :)

Well, I believe it's time to let vmodem rest in pieces. It sure is not
    needed anymore these days.
