In some ways, Apple is bringing iPhone manufacturing back to the US in that some iPhone components may be built in those new factories, and Apple Intelligence, though not a physical product, could live in those servers being built in Houston.

I worry, though, that that won't satisfy Trump's binary thinking. He clearly does not understand how technology is built or why it has long been built outside the US. Trump believes, for example, that Apple built the iPhone assembly factories in China. But those are Foxconn facilities, and that company also builds the products for companies like Nintendo and Google.

This reporter doesn't explain why "technology" (whatever he means by that) is better off being built outside the USA. Higher cost maybe? Maybe. We'll have t
see how it goes. Worst case scenario: People will have to pay more money to be
propagated by Apple.

In the case of phones, I am pretty sure it would be higher cost -- workers
are paid much less in those areas vs. the US going rate. Not sure about phones, but I know that CRTs used to be built, and disposed of, in other countries that were not so concerned about handling the toxins used in the tubes.

I checked with Tmobile recently and it's like $479 for an iphone right now (latest version I guess) so if that price isn't ridiculous enough, what is?

Android phones are primarily (I might be wrong) made in China too. I'm wondering why all the fuss about iphones? Shouldn't Trump be demanding that Android phones be made in the USA also?
